7 members of our student council attended the annual conference of Meath Comhairle na nÓg, held in the Ardboyne Hotel on October 24th. It was a busy and enjoyable day. The Cathaoirleach of Meath County Council Sharon Tolan opened the conference with an address to all the delegates.
The students engaged in icebreaker exercises with students from schools across Meath. Afterwards, we went on to discuss different topics and issues that are important to youth today, including “Digital Safety”, “School Stress”, and “Youth Inequality”.
2 students from our group have been elected to be members of Comhairle na nÓg. They will be members for the coming 2 years, and amongst the people who will be replacing the 10 members who are leaving. 2 representatives from each school were picked. “It was nice to be able to talk and be heard about the issues of today”.- L. Norman. “It was great to talk to Meath councillors about our problems in school today.”- A.Byrne.
